Who Wrote ‘The Snowman’ (2017 Film)

The Snowman (2017 Film) was written by Peter Straughan, Hossein Amini, and Søren Sveistrup. The story was based on the 2007 novel of the same name by Jo Nesbø.

The film stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer, and J. K. Simmons, following inspector Harry Hole as he tracks a serial killer who builds snowmen at his crime scenes. Principal photography began on 18 January 2016 in Norway, before moving to London and Sweden.

The Snowman had its world premiere on October 7 at the Haifa International Film Festival. It was then theatrically released on October 13 by United International Pictures in the UK and Sweden and on October 20 by Universal Pictures in the US. Critics hated the movie, labeling it “clichéd and uninvolving,” and it made $43 million worldwide on a $35 million budget. Later, Alfredson blamed the film’s issues on its hurried production timeline.
