Daniel McKorley (McDan) Biography


Daniel McKorley is a Ghanaian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder and CEO of the McDan Group of Companies. He was born on August 29, 1972, in Accra, Ghana, and grew up in Tema, a port city located about 25 kilometers east of Accra. He attended Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) in Accra, where he obtained his secondary education.

After completing his secondary education, Daniel McKorley worked for a brief period as a government employee before venturing into business. He started his career in the early 1990s by importing and exporting goods between Ghana and neighboring countries. He later established McDan Shipping Company Limited in 1999, which has since grown into one of the largest logistics companies in Ghana.

Under Daniel McKorley’s leadership, McDan Group of Companies has expanded its operations to include other industries such as real estate, hospitality, and trading. The company has a presence in several African countries, Europe, and Asia, and employs over 2,000 people.

In addition to his business ventures, Daniel McKorley is also involved in philanthropy. He established the McDan Foundation in 2014, which focuses on supporting education, healthcare, and sports development in Ghana. The foundation has provided scholarships to over 1,000 students, supported the construction of schools and hospitals, and sponsored several sports events in the country.

Daniel McKorley has received several awards and recognition for his contributions to Ghana’s economy, including the prestigious Ghana Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2016. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community and serves on the advisory board of the African Business Centre for Developing Education.
