According to the online statement, Kirstie was assisted by her family in her final days and “fought with great strength.” Unfortunately, it was to no avail. “The joy and passion of our mother, her children, grandchildren, and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy to create, were unparalleled and inspire us to enjoy life to the fullest, just as she did.”

The actress is best known for her role as Rebecca Howe in Cheers but has also appeared in Veronica’s Closet, Look Who’s Talking, Drop Dead Gorgeous, It Takes Two, Scream Queens, and more.

Kirstie has left a big impression on a host of stars, including actor John Travolta. He turns to Instagram to remember her. “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kristie. I’m sure we’ll see each other again,” he captioned two photos.

The love the two actors felt for each other ran deep. For example, Kirstie once called the Grease actor “the greatest love of her life.” That feeling would have been mutual, yet a romantic relationship never took off.

In addition to John, more stars reflect on the life of the American. Jamie Lee Curtis writes : ‘She was a great comedic character in @tvscreamqueens and a beautiful mama bear in her real life. We agreed to disagree on some things, but had a mutual respect and connection. Sad news.’
